Pimples are not just for teens. Men are complaining more and more frequently about skin imperfections.
A man has his flaws
Even if it’s not nice to hear, certain skin problems are simply par for the course for men. “These imperfections are often caused by the infection of follicles from bacteria that come from shaving,” explains Dr. Deshayes. But other factors come into play, particularly the secretion of greasy substances over the entire face, due to sebaceous glands that are more numerous and more active in men than women.
Gentlemen, habits to adopt for treating these little pimples
How do you get rid of pimples? By shaving regularly, urges Dr. Deshayes, but on the condition that it be smooth: “Shave only in the direction of hair growth. Use a soap-free shaving product with antibacterial action to stop the growth of bacteria.”
If you get pimples, cleanse your skin
Once the shaving issue is taken care of, the problem isn’t necessarily solved. If you have pimples, you also need to treat the oily skin that is causing them. For Dr. Deshayes, a proper skin washing is done in two super simple steps:
- Wash your skin with a soap-free gel containing active exfoliants and salicylic acid to prevent excess sebum and dead skin cells from blocking pores.
- Then use an antibacterial toning lotion containing salicylic acid to eliminate the germs that cause infections and to tighten pores.
Finally, to reduce shine all day long, choose a face cream for men with a matte finish. Make sure that your product contains moisturizing agents to smooth your skin and stop the irritation that causes pimples.
