Hair fiber is mostly composed of keratin, which strengthens and protects the hair against micro-aggressions. When chemical, thermal, and mechanical aggressions become too repetitive (blow drying, straightening, coloring, etc.), the keratin level degrades, and the hair becomes damaged. It becomes dry, brittle, and dull.
The type of hair also plays an important role in the scalp's balance. If the hair is oily, excess sebum can promote the appearance of oily dandruff. The hair needs to be purified, and excess sebum needs to be regulated. If the hair is dry, it lacks sebum and the scalp becomes dehydrated, uncomfortable, and may flake or itch.
