Suncare: all about our unique protective complex
Vichy has developed a unique protective complex for its suncare collection Capital Soleil. In order to better understand the benefits for your skin, here's a breakdown of how the key elements protect and care for your skin.
Solar filter Mexoryl : advanced UVA + UVB protection.
A solar filter is a substance capable of filtering out certain radiation from the sun in order to protect the skin from its potentially damaging effects. Vichy uses the right concentration of two types of solar filter in its protective complex: chemical filters which selectively absorb radiation before it reaches the organic tissue, and mineral filters which reflect the light when spread over the skin. For effective protection against UVA (long and short) and UVB rays, these two filter types are both used in Vichy suncare.
Mexoryl, one of several solar filters used by Vichy, is an organic solar filter developed by L'Oréal Research and used in two forms: Mexoryl®-SX and Mexoryl®-XL. The former protects against short UVA rays, and the latter against UVA and UVB rays. Mexoryl, whose raw materials are in part produced by renewable resources, is known for its ability to absorb radiation and then release it in the form of thermal energy before it penetrates the skin.
Antioxidants: Vitamin E
Vitamin E, a group of lipid-soluble compounds also known as tocopherols and tocotrienols, is known scientifically for its antioxidant properties, disabling the production of free radicals. But that's not all. Research has proved that Vitamin E also protects against pollution and UV rays, and has reparative properties. Vitamin E can be found in a variety of fruit and vegetables, such as dark leafy greens and avocados.
Minerals: Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water
Sourced from the heart of French volcanoes, Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water is rich in 15 different minerals. Pascale Mora, Science Communications Director at Vichy, explains the benefits: "The Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water enables skin to strengthen its defenses against UV damage". This is done by reinforcing the catalase, skin's natural weapon against UV-induced oxidative stress. In vivo and clinical tests confirm the ability of Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Water to reinforce the cutaneous barrier and stimulate cellular regeneration.
